AI agents and tokens

AI agents work on your boards like teammates: you can assign them tasks, and they can update tasks and comment. They use API tokens instead of signing in, and never count as seats.

FIG 1An agent and its token. Revoke it any time.

01Add an agent#

  1. Open the Team page. The AI agents & API tokens section is near the bottom. Owners and admins see it.
  2. Click + Add agent and give it a name, for example Claude.
  3. Copy the token Taskift shows you, and store it somewhere safe.
Heads up A token is shown once. Copy it before you click Done. If you lose it, create a new one and revoke the old one.

02Tokens#

WriteThe default. Read and change tasks, move cards and comment.
Read-onlyLook, but don't change anything. Pick New read-only token from the agent's ··· menu.

Click + Token for another token. Each token row shows when it was last used. Click Revoke and it stops working right away.

03Use a token#

The agent sends its token with each request to the Taskift API, in the header Authorization: Bearer tkn_.... Any agent that can call an API works, Claude included.

04Give an agent work#

Agents show up like people: assign them tasks and the Team page counts their open work. Their changes and comments land on the board with history, like everyone else's.

05Remove an agent#

Pick Remove agent from its menu. Its tokens stop working, and its tasks stay on the board, unassigned.
